Question
position errors in 2 of last 8 spins 94.000. also reel did not index 74.000. what does this mean and how to repair. book tells what it is but not how to fix. have changed reel reader, worked good for a while. have adjusted reader several times. adjusted all readers. all ok but #4. please help.

Answer
I am not sure why you have burned out two reel readers Bill, I would guess that your just the lucky one, and I don't think anything is really causing this. If it happens again, then I would really start to wonder. I can rebuild these reel readers, and they can be fixed, parts are a little troublesome to find but it's do-able, and well worth fixing them as these parts have earned their antique status, because they're going on 30 years old now! Please leave feed back here for me if you would (that's my total reward, the feedback), and I am really happy to hear you found the problem with it. If you need parts for this, write me at Jackpot7@q.com

Hi William,

Sounds like all your reel error codes end in a 4 for reel number four. All these are reel error codes of one type or another but ending in 4, like 74 or 94, mean that reel number four is the problem. It could be a burned out optic or emitter, take reel reader number 4 and swap it with another reel, if you swap number 4 with say reel one and put one in reel 4 and then try it. See your err codes come back with say 71 or 91, or 41. If so, then you will know that the old number 4 reel reader is bad. If nothing changes and you still get number 4 reel errors, then if the reel mechanism parts under the reels are gummed up, "RE: old hard sticky grease making parts hard to move, little levers and lever locks stiff and slow, will not snap fast and quick, gummed up and dirty, this will all have to be cleaned and lubed before you can go any where else with  this problem, as this will also cause the held reel tilt codes and can be your problem if the reels don't spin the right speed or the machine can't fire and index the reel fast enough due to poor old lubrication. Please let me know how this works out for you. First I would swap the number 4 reel reader as it could have a burned out light or receiver on a E-1000 or emitter or receiver on a E-2000.

Thank You

Sincerely

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
