Question
Dear Irene,

I have an old Singer machine that was given to me several years ago. I have no use for it and was hoping you could help me find it's worth. It is black with gold, red and green design. Has an EMC Imperial motor. A gold plate with the letter G or C followed by the numbers 7257625. It is in an old wooden carrying case that latches on one side and buckles on the other. Can you help me or maybe know of someone who can?  If necessary I can try to take a picture and send it. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hello Laura,
This sounds like a full-sized household sewing machine.
My expertise on the sewing machine side is strictly limited to the toy/collectible or miniature salesmen sample sized ANTIQUE sewing machines, sorry.
I do not know who purchases the full sized ones and I cannot hesitate a guess as to the value.  I do see them listed periodically on eBay.
There are websites listed that seem to offer these full-sized machines and parts, here are a few that may be of interest to you:

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
