Question
I recently acquired an antique pin cushion. It appears to be brass high heeled shoe. It says USS Oklahoma on the top. On the bottom it reads USSO Farewell Ball January 27, 1919. I cannot find any information on it. Do you have any information on it?

Answer
Hello Barbara.  Pincushion shoes, usually out of pot metal, we a common souvenir item.  Many had applied shields on the vamp of the shoe to personalize them to the occasion.  These were common in the early to mid 1900s.  The shoes weren't marked as to maker.  Without a picture, I can't tell you value, but if it is in mint condition, the fabric of the cushion is in mint condition, you may have a pincushion worth approx. $15.  However, since yours may be cross collectible (militaria due to connection to USS Oklahoma ship), it may be worth a bit more.  Hope this helps.  Barbara
