Collectibles-General (Antiques)/gdi slot machine
Expert: Rodger Knutson - 2/10/2010
QuestionQUESTION: Hello, I noticed your question about your slot machine. I have the same machine and have the same problem, can you tell me how you fixed it please?!
Your question:This machine will not operate from the handle. When the wire is tripped at the coin inlet the machine makes a loud buzzing noise from the reel motor area and then the 48-volt fuse blows. The reels will spin if the clear relay button is pushed at the top or if the points are closed on the brown fiber disk on the right. I have been a Mercedes Tech. Since 1981, but Slot Machines are new to me. Could you recommend a good service/parts manual and I am having a hard time finding info or model type from numbers on the tag. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it very much. If you have any MBZ questions maybe I can help you.
ANSWER: Hi Bill,
We have to somehow get a little clearer on this as I never heard of a gdi slot machine, there is an IGT made slot machine or a Bally, maybe a C.D.I., or a Sega, summit, Williams, C.D.S., Universal, mills, Jennings, Callie, wattling, and a bunch of others? You must of seen a question I answered about one somewhere. I need to know what you have first first, the "make and model", if you would like me to try to help, if possible. Can you send a photo of it? If I can see it maybe I can tell you what it is. Right now it sounds like you have a short, tripping the coin in wire and a fuse blows. email a photo if possible to Jackpot7@q.com There are slot machine manuals available at this web site:

But, we need to know who made you slot and what model of machine first.
Thank You

Answer
Hi Again Bill,
Hey....., thanks for the photo, it's worth a million words and lot's of looking. It's all there in that photo! Your machine was made by Seeburg, and then Williams bought them, so yours was called a Williams, somewhere in all this Gaming Devices, INC., fits in here also . There is only one hard to find manual for these slot machines that I know about, and it's a big one of about 170 pages. The manual covers most all the different types of the same models of this late 60's to maybe 1980 model type of Seeburg/Williams Slot Machines. You can find this manual, if you don't already have it at:

Your Jackpot problem is interesting, I suspect that it could of run out of coins and tripped the safety timer, and on page 58 Thu 62 in this manual it will explain the safety timer to you and how to reset it. Or, another area could be page 130 and look for the Attendant switch information there. I have had one of these Seeburg/Williams models myself, and it was a really fun and enjoyable game to play. I never had any trouble with it, so I did not have to work on it much, because I had no trouble with it I can only give you an idea or two of what might be wrong with it. I would check out these two items, as one of them might just clear the machine up and you might be playing it right away, based on what you say happened to it. I hope this helps and if I can help you further Please just ask.
Thank You
Sincerely
Rodger Knutson
