Question

100_2161
I found this unique sewing etui.  I think it may be of the Napolean III era.  The mother of pearl egg or cart is behind what appears to be pulled by 2 rams.  From what I have found online (which is limited) I think it is worth quite a bit of money.  Could you tell me the estimated value and any other characteristics of this rare piece?  I really appreciate your help. I am attaching a photo although the lighting isnt the best & I apologize for such.  Thank you again!

Answer
Hello KS.  The quality of the picture precludes me from providing specifics on your set.  However, I do feel your sewing set may be from the mid 1800s and may be French in origin.  I cannot tell if all the items match, if they are marked, or what material the implements may be made of.  I suggest you find a local appraiser, as your piece may have considerable value.
