Question

slot machine
I have a 922 B that will not accept coins it just drops thru. It seems that the magnetic plunger behind the coin acceptor is not pulling the bar back so the coin will go in.

Answer
Hi Raymond,

There is a really good repair manual on this machine, it's called Bally Manual 2400 and you can get it here at:

That is the coin rejector coil you are talking about, behind the coin acceptor. Can you trip the coin switch wire under the coin acceptor and make the machine coin up for play? If not, then you could have some problems in the circuits somewhere, the first thing I do is clean those pins and plugs called Blou plugs behind the payout hopper, and the reel mechanism, the plugs pins are made of aluminum and they corrode. you need to clean these really good before doing anything else as sometimes most problems are fixed right there, where these components plug in at, as you slide them in and this plug, plugs in. If it does coin up for play by triping the coin switch wire, and works fine by tripping the coin switch wire, then the problem could be just there in the coin rejector circuit or the coin rejector coil armature, or coin acceptor mechanism could be wrong, you can remove this coin rejector coil armature so a coin will pass by it, so it will work without rejecting any coins, but it will no longer reject that extra coin, or bad coin.

Thank You

Sincerely

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
