Question I have a penny scale that is manufactured by American Scale Mfg Co in D.C. The top of the scale reads "One Cent" and "Guess Lucky Slot and Get Free Weight". It also contains 6 slots to guess from. The middle of the scale reads "Your Fortune" and "Weight Your Fate". Also on the scale platform is the numbers 41811. If you could tell me anything about this model I would appreciate it. Is there a model number anywhere on the machine, how can I clean it, or get keys? Thanks!
Chandler
Answer Hi Chandler,
I guess you are unable to email a photo of it, if you can, please email it to Jackpot7@q.com There are a few scales that your description my fit. Let me ask you this, are you sure it has 6 coin slots or 4? Is the body of the machine square from top to bottom or tapered wide at top and narrow at the bottom where you would stand on it? Is it yellow? Is anything painted on the body of the scale like maybe "Character Readings", "fortune and weight" or "your future" this might help some. As for keys to the lock, a locksmith could pick it and make a key, or you might have to drill it and put a new lock in it. You can clean it with most anything as I believe most of these were finished with a porcelain glass like coating.
I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience
I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
