Question
Hi Roger,
I just received my first slot machine to work on.I am a recently retired electrian trying to fix my first machine. It is a bally E-2000.I bought a manual for a general guideline. My machine has a 50 000 code.when I hit the test button  to go to next step nothing happens.Maybe you can help me.
Thank you
Jerry

Answer
Hi Jerry,

The code ("50" 000) on a Bally "E" series machine just means that the door was opened since last play, code "50" the 000 in the code (50 "000") means that there was no payoff of on the last play, (no winning combination so no payoff) if it had paid out 5 coins it would be "005". If there is a dot, "." with any of the numbers also, this means the power has been off since last play. If you need a manual with more information on reading codes you can find one here at:

There is a test button and a reset button located right next to each other on the payout coin hopper board. Does pushing any of these buttons do anything at all when you push them? Power off, then power back on before you try them again, and try the reset button first and see if anything happens, also check those fuses with a continuity or multimeter and not just by looking at them, they can burn at the ends where you can't see it in the glass, I know, seen it happen a bunch.

Thank You

Sincerely

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
