Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Bally Slot Machine
Expert: Rodger Knutson - 4/6/2010
QuestionHi, i recently won a job lot of spares and in it was an old bally slot machine, the plate on the right hand side of the machine at the bottom reads 5 26 66, which i presume is the date, underneath this reads, 742a-m 94E, after a little light 3 in 1 oiling the machine runs like a dream after 30 years of it sdtanding in a shed !
My question is i think it may be a " money honey series " but there is single, double and triple bars on the reel strips, but no top glass ( its missing ) to indicate what the payout is,
What is this machine called,
Many thanks in advance... best rgds Dale.
AnswerHi Dale,
The Bally model 742a was first manufactured in 1964, and production of this model run could of lasted for sometime. In the UK, Bally also manufactured machines there, which included some different games we don't see here in the states. The model 742a held many different games, same model number and same cabinet, but with lots of different games. The information on the model number after the 742a refers to game type instaled in this model. So, yours had an original game which was type 94E, and your model number is: 742a-M94E. The information for the game codes and which games they were, (name, type, etc.) is very scarce for these early games. I have some game codes but nothing for the 94E. It could be anything, maybe even a game not seen here in the states. They did put a Money Honey game in this model 742a but they also had many other games they used in this same machine also. I noticed on top of your machine there is a mount for a lighted marque, and it's missing. If you had that marque it might have the game name on it, or even have special payouts symbols not shown on the standard award card. Most of these older game names refereed to something different on the reel payout symbols. Like the Money Honey, it had a symbol on each reel of the Money Honey Girl. So, if I were to name your game whithout knowing Bally's given name, I would call it a: Single line, Single coin, "Triple Bar" machine. I hope this information has been helpful to you Dale, and maybe you will pick up of a piece of plexieglass glass in those parts you got, and you will find your games name painted on it.
If you need any slot machine manuals for this game or others, you can find them at
http://www.coinslots.com and look for the links, and a manuals link down towards the bottom of the page. There is even a mechanical Sega Manual there! one machine you might know very well over there in the UK.
Cheers, Dale
Thank You
Sincerely
