Answer
Hi William,

Well sorry to say you have the dreaded "6" whatever that is. I have see it a bunch of times and most of the time I end up buying a MPU board and switching the eproms. This is some kind of MPU failure, it could be anything wrong with the MPU printed circuit board. I see this happen mostly on the E-1000 type style MPU's, sometimes It's the piggy back ram board if it is the e-1000 style mpu, and if so, you can try to unseat the ram board and reset it to see if this will clear it up. Look at you MPU printed circuit board on the inside, mounted on the left side of the cabinet. On the outer side of this board you will see the MPU battery, (AA size) If this battery is soldered on a removable smaller board along with a couple of removable ram proms, this is a ram board and a e-1000 style MPU. If it is not soldered on a small board but flat and soldered directly on the circuit board, this would be a e-2000 MPU board. The assembly # on the circuit board will also tell you which board it is. This battery should have a 3.6 volt reading or close to it. Have you tried reseting the machine first using the reset buttons on the coin hopper board? One is reset, the other is test, there marked on the board. If you have tried pushing these and nothing at all happens, take a look at the back side of this hopper also, as this board has a bad habit of burning it's self up. In which case it will do nothing pushing the buttons. If it fried, you will be able to see it on the back of this hopper control board located on the coin hopper. I have seen this error clear up sometimes by replacing the ram board or reseating the ram board, (Removing and replacing it) But you may find that you might have to replace this MPU Board and/or the ram board. If you need any manuals or troubleshooting information, these can be found at: http://jackpot7.freeyellow.com/page21.html Sorry I can't say it's something easy, but this is a bad one to try to clear up and find the problum.

Thank You
Sincerely

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
