Question
I have what appears to be an old metal thimble without a bottom.

I'm wondering if it was for the thumb for braiding and lacing rugs?  It would fit my thumb and I know my mother did braid rugs in the 40's and 50's.

Any comment or value?     Thanks,  Bev

Answer
Hi Beverly.  I would need to see a picture of the thimble to be able to comment or provide any information on value.  By the description, I'm thinking you may have a tailor's thimble, which had to top.  Where you would insert your finger would be the bottom of the thimble.  Barbara
