Question
Mr. Knutson,
I have a Bally .25 slot machine. Pictures are attached of the outside and inside of the slot machine.  This machine has been kept inside a room for 30+ years.  I believe it is a late 60's or early 70's model.  The only identification I can find is on the inside with the number 10033.  Also there is a number 52 right above the patent label on the inside of the machine.  Can you tell me about this machine and is there value in placing in for sale.  Thanks!

D. Forrestall

Answer

Bally Star Special
Hi Dan,

OK Dan, about your machine, you have the Bally Star Special. If you will look at the attached photo of an original sales flyer you will see the star Special listed there. Value in the price guide gives this machine a value of $1,000.00. I agree with this value, but it would sell much faster at around 800.00. This is an antique so there is no set value, and you can even ask 1,200.00 or more for it. It just depends on how fast you want to sell it when the time comes. I hope this gives you all the information that you are looking to find on it. The star Special is a little more on the un'common side, they're out there, but you do not see them as much as other models. If you need a manual for this machine you can find one at:

http://jackpot7.freeyellow.com/page21.html and look for this one:

Bally Electro/Mechanical Manual Number 2400. This is about the best manual Bally ever made for the Electro/Mechanical machines, from the 700 Thu the 1000 model number series machines. Includes wire color codes which will tell you what solid colored wire is caring which voltage and what circuit that is for like the 50 volt coils circuit, etc. Also has detailed stepper units for some of the models. Very good book, good for learning and troubleshooting with. 131 pages of great information. Some of these Manuals may be too large to email, if so, you will receive a email with a link to where you can just click the download button there, and download it very fast and easy.

Or this one:

Bally Model 742-A Money Honey Slot Machine Manual. This is the Service Instructions and parts catalog manual from the original Manual for the 1964 Bally Money Honey.  Thank You
Sincerely

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
