Collectibles-General (Antiques)/pulver machine

Question
I have a pulver machine, red case, cop with stop/go sign. It has what appears to be a modification to the bars behind the glass, that looks similar to the picture on your page. I have two others that do not have that area of the bars removed. Was that a factory mod. In attempting to sell this machine the buyer backed out when he saw that to be a flaw. Also, one machine has the bars to the outside of the glass. Which is correct? Thanks for your help

Answer
Joe,

The bars are inside the glass.  Maybe someone mistakenly turned it around.

The bars came from the factory with the corner cut out and with solid bars.  Both versions are correct.  However, the cut out version was for the Cop N Robber mechanism.  The cut out corner allowed for easier viewing of the extra animation for the cop n robber.  The full bar is correct for all other characters including the stop n go.  I would speculate the mechanism in your case was originally a cop n robber and the mechanism got switched at some point during its life.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm a huge fan of Pulver chewing gum machines and have many examples in my collection which you can see at my website.  I'm always interested in adding to my collection.  If it is still for sale, please email me pictures and price.

Thanks,
Chad
