Question
QUESTION: I Have a set of 4 That I got for free.. some damaged leg braces.. the sticker says p derby and co BOSTON and they originally had wicker bottoms..  Someone guessing along time ago put BUSSE Chair seat(s) on them... sicker on the seat said Manufactured by economy products corporation.. Chicago.. I have re stained and fixed legs.  Should I have the wicker replaced or reuse the seat covers?   I am recovering the seat covers.. keeping the (horse hair) padding in them and re-using the tacks..

ANSWER: The best advice I can share is to do only what can be reversed. In other words, if you want to change the seat cover but add a little extra padding, go ahead. The only thing that would hurt the value is what cannot be undone.
 Good Luck with your chairs.

QUESTION: So since someone aready cut out all the wicker.. Haveing that redone would not be worth it since it would not be original.. attached are some pics of chairs and bottoms.. What Years could they be from.. The seats have 1793 stamped onthe frame.. guessing it is a model #

Answer
The seat needed is pressed cane or sheet cane. It depends on the prices where you live but a seat should cost in the $30-40 range. I would definitely go with the cane. I would guess the chairs from around the turn of the century, 1890-1920.
 Nice chairs,
