Question
Hello Roger,

I am thinking of selling my 5c Perk Up machine, with the original Chlorophyll pellets. Considering that the pellets are too old to be consumed, I was just wondering would it affect the value whether they were sold with the machine or not?

Thank you,

Answer
Hi Lucy,

I think I would leave them in there. I can't really say for sure if it would affect value, but as a dealer/buyer it would prove to me it's age and it would make me feel more sure that the machine was genuine and not a reproduction. Also some old chewing gum has a value just by it's self, but we are talking about packaged old chewing gum. Having a machine like yours with the original old gum almost tells you right away that this is an old machine, untouched for years and still in it's original condition. If I were looking for a machine like yours, and I had a choice of one restored with new product in it or yours, I would not hesitate, I would pick yours first without a question. You can always restore something to like new condition, but you can't make it old and original again. Only time can do that. I would leave it as it is and ask more for it then what the rest sell for.

I hope I have helped you make up your mind on what you may want to do with this. If for some reason it isn't selling like this, you can always remove the pellets and try again, but if you remove them and send them to the garbage, you will no longer have that choice. Which could be very important and a deciding factor to a collector looking for a good original machine.

Thank You
Sincerely

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
