Question

Porcelain Pin Cushion
Hi,
I have a vintage porcelain pin cushion that is like the one pictured, except that mine is in the shape of a train. I have heard different things about its origin. Will you please give me your expert opinion?
Thanks!

Answer
Hello Melissa.  You didn't mention if there were any marks on your train pincushion, so I will assume there aren't any.  One company that made white porcelain pincushions decorated with pink yellow and blue flowers was called Ardalt.  Many pieces are not marked as they were cheap souvenir type offerings.  It is probably from 1950-1960.  I have a whole collection of these in various shapes:  cats, dogs, rabbits, chair, crown, shoe, butterfly, etc.  They have little value on the secondary market.  Hope this helps.  Barbara
