QUESTION: I have a 14K Gold Thimble has a 9 on side so I guess that means size 9.  Has a Star on inside.  Has to be really old
from my mothers sewing box she is 97 and maybe belonged to her mother.  Thimble is approximately 1" high. About 1/2 of of it has vertical rows of designs around entire thimble. I probably need to send a picture.  I looked on ebay and a couple other websites and this design is not shown. I am interested in selling so need a value to start.  Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

ANSWER: Hello Lynn.  I would need good, clear pictures of your thimble and the mark you describe.  The star was used by a number  of different thimble makers.  I will be out of town 8/9-15, so if you can send pictures after the 15th, I'll see what I can do to help you.  Barbara

Hello Lynn.  Yes, I am able to see the picture!  :-)

Your thimble was probably made by Waite Thresher of Providence Rhode Island.  They were in business from 1886-1927.  Your star mark, if there is no shape inside the body of the star, indicates the thimble was from 1886-1906.  If there is a shape inside the star mark, then it was made between 1907 and 1927.  

Value depends a great deal on condition and rarity.  Your thimble is a common pattern.  If the thimble is perfectly round where you insert your finger and there are no holes in the body when you hold it up to the light and look through it, I would say your thimble is valued at between $65-85.
