Hello Barbara!

Thank you in advance for your time and help. I've had this thimble for what seems like forever. I recently came across it again in an old box I was keeping. I'm not quite sure why I am keeping it around! (I don't really sew.) But it just seems like a neat little thimble. I can't find anything on the internet about it, but, I came across your website! Maybe when you get the time, you wouldn't mind telling me about it? No rush. I have attached some photos. Sorry in advance, I'm no photographer either! :) Thank you again!

Hello Anita.
It looks like you have a silver thimble that has a gold washed band. It is a size 8. Your picture shows the "cartouche" which was normally used for engraved names or initials. I can't make out the band pattern, as there isn't enough of it shown in your picture. You may want to look up inside the top of the thimble to see if there are any maker's marks. If so, please email me a description and I may be able to tell you more. The mark you may see could looke like an old English S in a shield or it could be the letters McKD or you may see an anchor. All these marks would indicate who made the thimble and I could give you a better idea of how old it is. You can email thru this forum or at bacchino@twcny.rr.com. Hope this helps.
