Dear Barbara, my wife's dear mother passed away a few years ago and we have found some interesting pieces amongst her sewing collection...

1x Avery Needle Case (Made of Brass#

Alexandra, #inscribed on clasp#

Registered on February 11, 1870, #inscribed on hinge side)

In excellent condition for its age

Holds needles sizes 6 through to 9

Measures approve 5 cms square by 7 mms deep.
We have to sell off some things and was hoping you could be of assistance and tell us it's value?

Hello Paul.  Your needlecase is described in "Victorian Brass Needlecases" by Estelle Horowitz and Ruth Mann on pages 87 and 135.  Unfortunately, there is no price guide.  Since I am not a collector of averies, I am unaware of current values.  They do appear on ebay, so you may be able to find recent selling prices with a search.  Sorry I'm not more help.  Barbara
