Question
I have a casige toy machine that is pick in color it has the eagle with key on the front of the head of the machine in gold it is not on a base with legs like some of pics i'v seen it has no other numbers or lettering any place on it i would like to know about how old it is. I just noticed that it says made in western germany on that throat plate.

Answer
Hello Betty,
Thank you for your query.
Does your machine sit on a base of any sort? Example: a square metal base rather than legs?
Although you say there is no lettering on the machine, did you check the stitch plate? The metal stitch plates are sometimes marked. The "pink" metal CASIGE with a closed hand wheel is sometimes stamped "Made in Germany" -- 6 1/2"h x 4"d x 7 3/4" W.  If this is your machine, it dates to the 1960's.
If not -- I will need to see a photograph of the machine and the hand wheel to be able to better identify it.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
