!. do you know how the old ebonized finish on Steinways was done?
2. what would you suggest for touch-up and overall reviving the finish .?
Most of the old piano finishes were a polished black lacquer. There are several different ways to revive the finish but they are not for the DIY. Without seeing the finish or the piano, I'm not comfortable giving suggestions that may ruin the piano finish if you choose the wrong one.
I would suggest doing some research using the serial number of the piano to find the year it was made then, the finishes process used at that time before doing any work. A piano is not an easy task to do. There is alot of disassembly required to do it right.
I feel bad not answering your question better but don't want to give the wrong advice to you.
