Question
I have a cedar chest with the above name on it
The inside is perfect but it needs some outside
repairs (lid & legs) unsure of the date probably
at least 50 years or more it was my late Aunts.

Is the repair & refinishing a worthwhile expense & project???

Answer
Hi Margaret
Nice to hear from you. I live in Ontario too.
To answer your question, "Is the repair and refinishing a worthwhile expense & project?"
The answer is yes, it certainly is if you can do this yourself.
The expense for the materials will be less than $50.00.
If you want to tackle this easy refinishing job yourself, please get back to me.
A picture would be great and will allow me to see the damage and guide you with the repair.
You would likely get someone in your area to do this job for under $300.00.
Your cedar chest is easily worth that.
So either way this is a worthwhile project.
Hope to hear back from you.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
