Question
I picked up a great wicker chair abandoned at a dump site.  One leg is about 2" shorter than the others. Is there a good way to glue extra length to the leg and then rewrap the reeds around it or is it hopeless?  Thanks for any suggestions.

Answer
You didn't say if the leg is rattan or wood but the repair is about the same.Peel back the wrap as far as you can up the leg. Cut your replacement piece and drill a hole in the leg and frame for a dowel. If you can get a piece of steel rod the right size. get it. Otherwise use a wood dowel. Glue it in place with an epoxy glue. Once set, soak your wrap material and while it's soaking, place 2 pieces of flat metal [available at hdware, Lowes]just a little narrower then the leg across the joint. Position on the front and backside of the leg. Use a clamp or tape to hold in place and start the wrap from the top down.At the bottom secure it with some small brads. Let dry-sit down!

  Good luck
