Collectibles-General (Antiques)/wooden spools of thread

Question
I have many wooden spools of thread, but a few that have not been used at all.  Most say J & P Coats  boilfast mercerized 140 USA.
There is however, one that says ONT where the USA label is on other spools.  It appears that Coates and Clark sponsored a hockey team many years ago.  Can this spool be worth something more?  It has label Coats & Clarks  ONT  41-B Boilfast mercerized

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Frances,
Thank you for your query.
Manufacturers of wooden thread spools made them by the thousands.
If you look on auction sites like eBay for instance, they are listed by the dozen and for very little money. They really are not worth much on the market.
However, if you were to list it, I would most certainly highlight the fact that the Coats and Clark spool appears to be sponsoring a hockey team and this may increase the value ever so slightly.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
