Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Aluminum Regal 5 cent dispensing wheel

Question
Regal 5cent
Regal 5cent
I am repairing a Regal nut machine I found in my grandfathers attic for novelty use in my home.

The dispensing wheel and the threaded tube seem to be stuck together.  When you move the wheel the rod moves with it, making the machine inoperable when assembled as the chute is held on at the bottom with a nut and the glass retaining ring is on the top thread.

Is there a trick I am missing to get the wheel (in green) off of the rod (in red)?

Thanks

Answer
Yes, The wheel should move independently of the threaded tube.  Because they dispensed salty nuts, the parts frequently corrode and seize up.  You'll have to pound it out with a hammer, or try clamping it in a vise and twisting the rod to loosen it(which is probably the best idea)  Good Luck!  Larry
