Question
Hello, I have a red Betty Ross Children machine with a Red Carrying Case, it is electric with a foot petal. It is missing needles. Do you know the needle I need to make it work? I took my machine to a Sewing Machine Guy and he will charge me to find this info out. So I am trying to save myself money by doing it myself, Thank you! Leslie

Answer
Hello Leslie,
The needle that you need is a standard 24 x 1 x 14 or 16 needle. These can be obtained at any sewing machine store.
To install:  raise the needle bar to highest point. Loosen needle bar set screw. Put needle up as high as it can go with flat side facing thumb screw.(be sure that needle is set at about 1/16" above the looper - the looper is the part under the machine that makes the stitch)  Tighten firmly needle set screw.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
