Question

columbia deluxe club
Hi, I'm starting to restore this columbia club deluxe, the mech and jackpot seems to work fine but I suspect there is a small part missing on the jackpot side. coins released by the carousel fall directly into the coin box and have no way of reaching the jackpot to load it. I know the standard deluxe had twin JP and used a swinging chute to load them in turn with the coins diverted to the coin box when the JP overflowed, did this this single jp version from 1949 simply have an upright chute that fed the JP till it spilled over into the coin box,if so do you think i can make one?
thanks, Paul.........

Answer
Hi Paul,

Sorry but I don't know this model at all. I have only seen one other photo of this model. I see this machine has the Brutish type reel strips and award card as the colored numbed symbols are a dead give a way. Not seeing one of these inside I can't tell you about this coin shoot, but I am sure that you can make some kind of coin slide to do the job of getting the coins from the mechanism to the jackpot. Maybe some coper or plastic water pipe will work best?, you might even have to cut it in half down the side so it's open if needed. Sorry I am not much help on this but I just haven't seen your model before. I have seen the double jackpot like you described but not this one. I would think you could make something easy for it or maybe even have a sheet metal shop make one out of tin.

Thank You

Sincerely

Commentthanks for taking the time anyway, yes I am in the UK, my real worry was how the system delt with the jackpot being full but as the double jackpot model simply let the jackpot overflow I guess this one will be the same, thanks again, I've downloaded the columbia manuals from your site and they are,as always, very helpful. Paul.

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
