Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Standard Treadle Sewing Machine

Question
I have a Standard Treadle Sewing Machine that I purchased over 30 years ago from an Antique Dealer. I have no info on how old it is.
All I have is what I think is a serial number (495981). The machine has Standard on the actual sewing machine that folds up into itself and has a lid that closes on top from the left. Standard is also on both of the sides of the frames (legs) and on the front of the cabinet. It has two drawers on both sides of the cabinet with original knobs that turn right or left to unlock and lock drawer in place. I also have the original standard metal attachment box with a multitude of varied feet attachments and some original bobbins.
Can you help me in dating this and an approximate value. The cabinet is in rather good condition, except the top cover which has some veneer peeling off in a couple of place. I have a leather
belt that might be an original but it is rather dried out and I think the hole that holds the metal hook might be ripped.

Answer
Hello Mary,
Thank you for your query but as I have stated many times before, the household models of sewing machines are not my field of expertise. When it comes to sewing machines, I only deal with the TOY or COLLECTIBLE miniature variety.  I am also an expert in antique sewing tools and thimbles.

Please page back in my file and you will however find numerous web links that may be of assistant to you.  If none of these help, please resubmit your query to an expert who deals in the household variety of sewing machines.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
