Question
The nickel when inserted falls on the slide just as a quarter would and when the lever is pulled it slides down the slide as if it were a quarter. Should the feeler knock it into the reject box or is the feeler just to detect washers?  Also the last wheel to stop doesn't always stop on a fruit sometimes it falls between. Is that normal or is there an adjustment that i need to make?

Answer
Hi Darrell,

Well I can tell you something is wrong with your coin Escalator because nickels should not be allowed to operate a .25 cent coin escalator, and the nickels should not even get that far to were there in front of the coin dictator pin on the right side. They should roll out into the slug box before that so this will not happen. Something must of been done or changed on it by someone at sometime. Worse case scenario, I would get a replacement .05 cent coin escalator for it and being it is a high top you will also need the .05 cent adapter right on top of the escalator at the coin hole, or you can use yours. I cant give you any more ideas without seeing this escalator or having it in my hands to look at. As far as your one reel stopping on the edge or point of the star wheel, it sounds like the machine is slow, is this reel almost stopped when this happens? If so, sounds like it's time for a lubrication job, or for a quick fix if you want, you can make the mechanism to run faster so the cycle will be almost done before this reel stops by, try curling the fan blade on the clock in a tight circle. If the fan blade is flat it grabs more air and slows the cycle down, if it bent and curled up tight it grabs less air and the cycle will be fast. For manuals on this machine go to:

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
