Question

Hi Rodger,
We acquired a Bally 742A-M83 nickel slot machine manufactured 6/21/65. The biggest jackpots pay out on three 7's or three stars on the center payline, or 3 "Holiday" (hotel) symbols in any position. The top plexiglass display sign is missing. This would display the payout info and light up on top of the machine.  Would you know of anywhere we can obtain one?  Also, this machine sure is tight with the payouts.  Is there any way to "loosen up" one of these type machines?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Don,

I see you have the light box for the plexie glass topper on the top of you machine so your good there. I do see these selling on ebay from time to time, search under slot parts. I seen one that would of worked on your slot sell here not to very long ago. You might be able to find it by searching closed auctions there or just keep your eye open. There might be another place, I think it called Peppers in Las Vegas, a place that I think sells slot kits, and reel tapes there. I have never been at this place but I have heard of it. I'll do some more checking and if I come up with anything I'll let you know OK?

Thank You

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
