Question
I have a miniature sewing machine made by National sewing co. in Belvidere, IL. says American girl on the front. has some rust damage but stills turns freely. how old is it and how much is it worth?

Answer
Hello Kathy,
Than you for your query.
Please note, that without the benefit of a photograph to aid in the correct identification of your particular machine, I can only guess at the model.
The company known as the National Sewing Machine Co. moved to Belvidere, Illinois in 1886 and production ceased at this company in 1954.
The American Girl toy machine dates to the 1920's and 1930's and many were sold in the Montgomery Ward Catalogs from 1928 through 1938.  A red machine was also shown in the 1936 Sears Christmas Catalog.
I am sorry but I do not do valuations.  Check the various internet sites for your machine and this will give you a ballpark idea of its worth.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
