Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Tilt Code

Question
QUESTION: Found your site with a Goggle search for a Bally's E-2090-112. I just picked this up as a gift and it resets to the Tilt. Can not get it to clear at all. Tilt code is (if I read it right)
8.0.3.1.0.1.  Any Ideas ? I'll get a manual down the road if this code doesn't indicate a serious problem. Otherwise I'll haul it back. Thanks

ANSWER: Hi William,

Your error code is not a good sign. I would bet that this machine has a E-1000 MPU board in it. That the board to the left of the reel mechanism. It has a AA size Ni cad battery on the front edge of this board, if that battery is mounted on a board that can be removed from the main board, (Piggy back circuit board) then it's an e-1000 type MPU. E-2000 boards did not have a Piggy back board and the battery was soldered right to the circuit board. Anyway, your error code is not one you will not find in a regular Bally manual, and you may not even find it in the Ballys test station manual. when I see this code or one like it, then I start looking for a new Piggy back ram board to try on the MPU board. If that doesn't work then you need to replace the whole MPU board before you can go any further with it. Sorry I don't have better news for you but I have ran into this many times and this was the only way that I have found to fix it. I hope this helps you in deciding what to do on it. If you do need any manuals you can find them here:

QUESTION: Roger, sorry to bother you again, but i must say you know your slot machines.. I did your suggestion of swithing card readers and sure enough the same one is bad in another position.. The 3 readers each have 5 sensor lights but i see on the bad one, only 4 are lighting up.. i'll give it a good going over and if it still doesn't work i'll try and track a new one down.. I'd give you a 12 if the rating went that high.. Big Thanks !

Answer
William,

Sounds like you nailed it! VERY GOOD JOB and your hired, when do you think you can start? You mush have the light type reel readers then, some are inferred and these don't light, and there different voltages between the e-1 and e-2 type readers. What is the assembly number on the reel readers? You will find this along the edge of the reader board. The readers that light up like a bulb are the early E-100 type readers. There not interchangeable with the e-2ooo machines unless you use the whole reel mechanism. You can swap the whole reel mechanism between the e-1 and the e-2 but not just the readers only, as the wiring and voltage and the reel reader interface board are different. As a complete reel mechanism package they will interchange. If you want to make sure it's just the bulb you would steel one of the lights off another board just to try it. If all you need is a bulb for it I can help you out with that as I have a few that are new. Just write me at Jackpot7@q.com and we will take care of that little problem of yours and get a bulb right out to you so you can get your new (Worlds Greatest self filling Piggy bank) back up for the first time, and running. My congratulations to you for a job well done, I mean that, and for your prize you receive the right to post these words above the fireplace..............

"Lets getter done!"

*It been my pleasure helping you out with your slot machine William*

Thank You!

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
