Question
maybe 30 years ago I played a pinball where you would shoot all 5 balls and they would land in a depression and stay there. each depression was a card (9 thru ace of each suit)and therefore you would end up with a poker hand. we would all put up a dollar or two and take turns playing the pinball and the best hand would win the pot. can you tell me the name of that pinball?

Answer
Hi Tom,

Well this iextremelyly hard to answer without a name or year or manufacture. I remember one just like the one your talking about, and we did the same thing, it was in a bar, but I also don't remember the machines name. This machine I think doesn't have flippers right? A one player game, and 5 balls for a dime. Anyway this is going to take work looking, and some work to figure it out. Here is one that might fit the bill for you, but this is not the one I played. You can see it here:

http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1310 and it's called Jolly Poker made in 1955 by Williams. You can search this data base and also try advanced search foflipper lessless or roll down game, search by date from about 1950 to 1957, if it didn't have flippers is should fit in between these years. This data base is located at:

http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?searchtype=quick

If Jolly Poker is the one please let me know so I quit lookingOKor it ok? I will keep searching if this is not the right machine. If I find something else I'll return to this answer and update the answer, and you should be notified by allexperts if I add something.

Thanks Tom

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
