Question
Wooden Box
Wooden Box
This is from my Grandmothers estate and it was her mothers I believe. It folds up into a wooden box and on the top it says Patented February 19, 1839. There is a very old Singer Sewing machine and I am wondering if it belongs to it. If I decide to sell the box what is it worth? Thank you, Cathy

Answer
Hello Cathy.  Your wooden box was made to hold sewing machine parts/accessories.  It is also referred to as a "puzzle" box due to the way it folds up.  They are quite common.  Considering the box is in very good condition, value would probably be less than $20, but you should consult ebay to see what items like yours are going for now.  Hope this helps.  Barbara
