Question
Bally Big Spender
Bally Big Spender
Hi Roger,
I am hoping you can help me on identifying this Bally slot machine. The front of it says "BIG SPENDER" and the tag on the side says "BALLY MANUFACTURING CO. IRELAND LTD.  DUBLIN 12"
The tags under that say "1193 & 271" on the bottom. I can't find out any information on this unit. It is a single coin, 4 reels and says it pays "Left to right, right to left." Any information would be helpful. I looked under the handle/knob for a date but it says "Chicago" under the ball?

Answer
Hi Mike,

Mills did make these as they had a Mills plant in Ireland. I had a question on one of these in the past and I tried really hard to find some information on it, but there was simply nothing to be found on it. The model types and games are different the we see in the states here. I wish I had something, anything to give you in the information end of this but sorry, I just could find nothing on them. I even tried searching for information in Ireland and still nothing.
I wish I could help but pulling information out of thin air is not working at all for me on these. Thank you for adding the photo as this would really help if there was any information to be found on them, but it is also nice to be able to see what you have there, and to see what another one of these looks like. If I find anything in the future I'll come back and add to this answer and you will be notified by allexperts.

Thank You

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
