Question
I recently got a coca cola aluminum thimble at a garage sale. The wording says DRINK Coca Cola IN "BOTTELS". "BOTTLES" is misspelled.

Can you tell me anything about this thimble. Age, etc.

~Thanks,
Mark

Answer
Hello Mark.

Aluminum advertising thimbles were very popular in the 50s and were made in the millions.  They were used as cheap giveaways.  Your thimble is cross collectible - sought after by thimble collectors and Coca Cola collectors.  However, since they are so plentiful in the secondary market, they don't bring much.  In mint condition (no scratches on the band, not out of shape and no holes) your thimble is probably worth about $5-10.  They appear on ebay often.

The misspelling is unique but doesn't add much to the value.

Hope this helps.
