Hi Jan,

i just bought a ROYAL coffee grinder (code ''ABEL'') of the company ''The A.J. Deer. CO.) Hornell, New York.
it looks to be a rare company and also a rare model. because i can't find anything about it on the internet.
i have patent off the hobart company for a coffee grinder but nothing of the ''ROYAL coffee grinder''.

i know your expert in Scales. but this is something i'm lost in it.
i hope you can help to provide some patents and more information about the coffee grinder (ref. picture)
best regards,
Didier Stevens

Answer
Hi Didier,

While, I am unable to provide you with a value on your Coffee Grinder I was able to find a bit of information that manufactured it.

Patents assigned to the firm, which was founded around 1907 and incorporated in Delaware in 1920 by A.J. Deer, L.G. Robbins, and C.M. Nevins to manufacture electric coffee mills, roasting Machines, etc. are as follows:

Patent number          Year
930920          1909
953250          1910 Coffee Grinder
953251          1910   Coffee Grinder
D53551          1919
1310752          1919
1412244          1922
1468705          1923
1479962          1924
1483878          1924

Patents can be viewed and downloaded by entering their numbers one at a time in the search box here: http://www.google.com/?tbm=pts&hl=en
Note that some of the patents assigned to the company were reused as references for patents in the 1970s and 80s.

More information may be found by searching Google books here: http://books.google.com/bkshp?hl=en&tab=tp

In addition, an advertisement for your Royal Coffee Grinder may be found here: http://books.google.com/books?id=PIRRAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA17-PA19&dq=%22aj+deer+company

Hope this helps.
