Its the only trunk I've seen with staves on both directions. Maybe a Canadian thing...All the metal was coated with 2 coats of clear. A thin coat of tung oil was applied to both the wood and the metal. I use satin paint and the tung oil gives a nice deep sheen to the paint without too much shine. Now to find another neglected orphan to do up before the snow arrives!
