Question
Thimble
Thimble
Hello,

I found this thimble while metal detecting in Germany. I am hoping for some help identifying it's time period and if possible a manufacturer.

Answer
Hello Brian.

Are there any marks on the thimble at all....925 for sterling silver or 800 or any numbers like that within the knurling (punched area above the band)?  Without feeling it or without marks, I'm thinking it looks to be aluminum from the picture you've sent.  Aluminum thimbles were popular from 1940-1970.  If you find any marks or numbers on the thimble, please email again and I'll see if I can be of more help.
