Hi there. Do you know this maker's mark? Can you tell me anything about this thimble as far as collectability? Thanks much.

Answer
Hello Deborah.  Your thimble was made by Simons Bros. Co. of Philadelphia.  They still make thimbles today.  Your thimble is known as the "wide plain band" which made it perfect for inscriptions.  Great that you have the date on yours, otherwise, it could have been made yesterday, as this thimble is still being made today.  If there are no holes in your thimble and it is not out of round, I would say your thimble has a value of about $15-$25 as it is a very common issue.  Hope this helps.  Barbara
