Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Antique Chair?

Lammert Chair
Lammert Chair
Hi Bob,

Found these chairs last week. Noticed Lammbert's furniture metal label on each. Did some research and found several Lammert's pieces online. Not too many chairs, but did come across advertising chair that was appraised on the Antique Road Show.

These chairs are pretty worn, but the design is very interesting. Couldn't find any exactly like them on line made by any furniture company.

Would like to know the usual:

1. when made

2. chair style name and use

3. type of wood (the woven back looks like rattan)

4. value, if any....

5. clean-up or keep as is?

Thanks very much, in advance.

Best regards,

1930 maple chairs with splint woven backs.  splints are probably hickory or oak.

after cleaning and waxing, hoping to smooth out the saddle seat so the color is more even and protected these would sell at 75-125 each depending on how they come out.

thanks for your patience!

In regards to American antique, vintage and collectible furniture I can help with wood identification, styles, age, periods, historical coatings, materials, techniques, repair, restoration, refinishing, and value. I do not study mid century and later furniture nor do I deal in lamps, and other smalls. You may ask for values and I will give you current market values, I will not give you 'feel good' values. Understand that there are many factors that contribute to market value. If you want a feel good, unrealistic number, please call a local inexperienced appraiser. It is my desire to help you and in doing so I increase my knowledge as well. For that I thank you.

I have been in the antiques furniture and restoration business and in the sales of antique furniture for 40+ years and have continued my education in the trade attending workshops and seminars by various organizations, institutions, and private collectors.
