Question I have inherited a Winsted Silk Co. 30 drawer spool cabinet from my grandparents estate. There is no information online to help me identify what the top cornice might have looked like. Actually there is no information about a spool cabinet like this one that I can find. Can you help ?? Thank you.
Answer Hello Kristen. What a nice piece to keep in the family! There is a book out dedicated strictly to spool cabinets. Unfortunately, I do not have it in my collection to be able to tell you title/author. However, there is one book that features spool cabinets: Country Store Collectibles Price Guide by Roselyn Grossholz. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to find a picture of your cabinet. Also, seach ebay periodically. There is a Winsted cabinet on there curently. You might also search the Internet on the Winsted company, which might bring up pictures of their cabinets.
