I purchased a carousel horse (picture attached), which, according to the documentation I have, is from the 1930 King Reid Circus held in Manchester, Vermont. I have tried to research the carver, but have found nothing. I would like to know the value, as I wish to sell it. Thank you for any information.
Answer This horse appears to be an early Armitage/Herschell piece produced in North Tonawanda, New York in or around 1899. The horse has a replaced tail and has probably been painted over several times. Generally these retail in the $2,000.00 area.
