Question
My grandmother left me 2 sewing machines (and they may have even been her mothers) One is a Climax No. 2 and the other is a Zippy. The machines seem to be in good condition but the base wood they sit one are not. I am trying to figure out if they are worth anything, If there not I would remove the old bases make new ones and display them just as beautiful old sewing machines, but if they are valuable I would leave them alone. What should i do?

Answer
Hello Vicky,
Thank you for your query but I am afraid I cannot help you. As I have stated before, my expertise as far as sewing machines go is strictly related to TOY and MINIATURE sewing machines.
When it comes to domestic sewing machines, I'd be checking the internet or eBay as you would for information.
But, having said that, if you read back through some of my questions and answers, you will find that I have provided various links to sewing machine collector sites that may be of interest and helpful to you.

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
