Question
Can you tell me anything about this company (most likely no longer in business) out of New York.  Trademark is two bears holding a sign that reads "Flemish Quality 860 is Standard"
Can you tell me the year they were in business.  I'm looking at a wooden (wall hanging) piece . . . roses carved on wood.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Lorinda
Nice to hear from you.
Sorry Lorinda I just do not have any idea about this.
The only thing that comes to mind is that there is a Belgium/French connection here.
My father came from Belgium and the language spoken there was Flemish.
So I am thinking perhaps the company was run by Belguim/French immigrants.
My father had old Belguim documents that had the 2 bears on them also, so there is some connection.
I wanted to get an answer to you right away, but I also want to look into this a bit more...this is very interesting.
I will post a follow up to you if I can find further info.
Regards
Eileen
PS..do you have any idea of the origins of this piece or its age?

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
