Subject: Help identify our horse please!

Question
Hi, we know this is a Parker because it had Parker shoes (Leavenworth Kansas). We would like date it & also find out if there are plans we can buy to recarve the missing ears appropriately. We also thought possibly it started out as a track horse and then had the hole drilled in later. We want to try to restore it the best way we can. Please go to this webpage for detailed pix http://www.caughtintime.com/CarouselParkerhorse.html
Thanks for your time and info!
We love our horse!

Answer
I believe you contacted me directly with this question as I remember answering you twice.  Obviously you never got my responses.

The horse is not a Parker.  It's an Armitage Herschell Track machine produced in North Tonawanda, New York in our around 1895.   The Parker horseshoe was added by someone at some point but it's not original to the piece.   If the horse were mine, I'd remove the shoes.

These horses generally retail for around $2,000.00.
