  Dear Eileen,  My Aunt has an old cedar chest made by Hill and Hoel, that belonged to her Mother.  It is of a plain style, with spoon feet with wooden wheels and the exterior is made of cedar or reddish pine. Its been in the family for at least 80 years.  She doesn't know whether it was purchased new by her Mom and Dad, or whether it was given to them as an old piece when they first married in 1923.  Do you know of this South Bend, Indiana Co. and if so can you put an age and value on this chest?  Thanks for any help you can offer.  Sincerely, Lily Maynard

I live in Canada and am not familiar with the Companys in the states, but I will include for you an exerp from another query I recieved about cedar chests.
You will see the prices vary a bit, but not a great deal.
Old cedar chests are still redily available and do not command high prices.
As follows..Question
My husband and I have an Ed Roos cedar chest which was owned by his great-grandmother and were curious about the general value. It's original price is listed inside and was $100. Can you give me any idea of the potential value? If not, could you give us the name of a book(s) which might help us?

I would say your chest would be in the $300 to $400 range.
I live in Canada and things here are rather high for the most part.
I copied and pasted some price ranges for cedar chests, and as you can see they vary.
