Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Hoosier by Showers Brother

Question
I'm forced to sell my Hoosier & before I part with it I would greatly appreciate some information to make the sale less painful.  It's two pieces, white, roll top door/bin, two side cabinents for utensils, enamel pull out top, bottom has side drawers for bread.
There is a plate with the name "showers" at top.  What is it's possible value.  I can't seem to find anything except history on the the actual Showers Brothers. Where should I look?
Thanks you sooo much

Answer
Hi Phyllis
Nice to hear from you.
Do not consider this an "appraisal".
This is only what I see Hoosiers sell for at auction.
In good condition (and condition is everything), the painted hoosiers sell for $700.00 to $900.00
The unpainted natural wood finish ones are more desirable here and fetch more. Anywhere from $1000.00 to $1200.00
This is Canadian dollars as I live in Canada.
The ones in poor condition bring considerably less.
The last poor condition one I saw sold for $100.00.
Its not often I see one in very excellent condition, but its not often I see one period.
Hope this helps
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
