Collectibles-General (Antiques)/JD&S SILVER BOX

Question
I bought this silver box that has a hinged flap, handle on top and a ring on the back. I am not sure what it is exactly, but on the bottom it has the letter A, underneath that a trumpet with a banner, under that in gothic lettering JD&S, under that EPBM the under that the #3580. What is the box,what does the numbers mean and about when was it made?  Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Not silver. EPBM = electroplated Britannia metal, a cheap silver substitute. BM is a pewter alloy formulated for fabrication (rolling, spinning, etc.) rather than casting. EPBM is very unpopular with collectors.

JD&S = James Dixon and Sons, of Sheffield, England.

The trumpet and banner is one of their trademarks.

3580 = pattern number.

A = not sure, but possibly a workbench identifier.

Dates around 1880-1920.

Function: it's a box ... so any number of possible uses, but perhaps intended as a sandwich box or stamp box (depending on size).

Prolific maker, their wares are very common.

Value very small indeed.
