Question
Can you help me price a James Dixon & Sons coffee (or tea) pot.  The lid finial is an ornate sunflower plant.  The bottom is marked James Dixon & Sons; above the name to the left the number 7; above the name to the right the number 50; below the name the number 1509.  It has a wooden handle; four cantus? leaf feet; and a leaf design spout.  The overall height is c. 9 1/2".

Answer
-

There are innumerable variations on designs, so this particular form is not one I can identify. Dixons were VERY prolific, and their pieces now very common.

Made of Britannia metal - see earlier answers of mine for details.

Dates around 1840. 1509 is the pattern number, 50 probably a workbench identifier, and 7 perhaps the capacity in Imperial half-pints.

If tall, coffee, if squat, tea. AT 9.5" I would say coffee.

"cantus?" - you mean "acanthus".

Value if in excellent condition, around $50-100.
